Owen had his first airplane ride back to Cincinnati last weekend. He was a real champ...he fell asleep minutes before the plane boarded, nestled in his blue sling, and he did not stir again until we were moving him from the sling to his carseat when we were being picked-up by Tim and Jan at the airport.
We met Grandpa and Grandma Poling (Jan's parents) in Dayton for breakfast...so they could meet their great-grandson. We had a very lovely visit. Here is Grandma Joyce holding Owen, and Grandpa Cork too.
While we were in Cincinnati, we got a chance to visit some friends and their families. Our friends, Heidi and Ben were celebrating the 3rd birthday of their first daughter, Maggie. They also have a 13 month old named Genny. We took lots of action shots of the girls at their house.
On Saturday, the Boones did what the Boones do best...they had a party for friends and family to meet the new addition. Jan's sister and brother-in-law, Jo and Steve, came down from Northern Ohio. Here is Jo visiting with Owen:
Here is Shayla (Jan's sister-in-law) and her daughter, Adele, holding Owen. Adele was really careful with the baby.
There was delicious food for us all. Some of us were really working the few teeth we have for this excellent corn on the cob.
All of the local Boone brothers and their families came over for a visit. Here is Rick, Beth, and Lauren. Lauren is going to Florence, Italy to teach English for a year...how cool is that??
Here are Pam, Linley and Mike enjoying some shade.
Now we have to show some pictures of Grandma Jan and Grandpa Tim with Owen. I think they all remembered each other from the first time they met.
Here Tim and Owen are lounging together, singing the "Lully" song.
Our trip home to Jersey City was equally uneventful. Owen slept until the last 30 minutes of the flight, and by then it was time to nurse him. -That was a little more awkward to me than it was to the baby, but we did it! Oh the places I have bared my breast in the name of love, or was it lunch? Sometimes being a mom feels like being an amusement park ride...that's right dear, don't tug that, keep your hands inside the ride until it has come to a complete stop.
This week has brought about the introduction of PRUNE Juice to Owen's diet. Apparently our little traveler is a bit bound-up, and we are trying to get him back to his regular self. He is behaving like he is feeling quite well and cheerful, and he even smiles from that PRUNE Juice like we are giving him a special treat. (He does that for Zantac too...boy if we can convince him that's a treat, we won't ever have to introduce cookies or ice cream!) I know, you are probably thinking those aren't smiles...they're gas passing...hey, just be glad you won't be here to hold the baby THIS weekend, when all the juice finally does its job. I won't write about it when it does.
have a weekend full of good, clean fun!
